: A goods vehicle driver was attacked and relieved of Rs 8,500 in cash and a five sovereign gold chain by two motorcycle borne persons at Peelamedu area here today.
Police Janakar was proceeding from his house in Ramanathapuram to Peelamedu at around 0700 hrs when the duo intercepted his of his vehicle, stabbed him with a knife and took away the cash and chain
Passersby noticed the bleeding Janakar lying unconscious and informed police, who rushed to the spot and admitted him to the Government Hospital here.
