The third edition of 'Expressions', a magazine for kids, was released by 'Green Oscar' winner Purnima Devi Barman, who urged children to work towards the betterment of the environment.

The English magazine is the brainchild of Anuragini Gohain Baruah, a class 9 student, who is also its editor.

"You all (children) should be innovative and creative in every field. Start thinking about the environment around you. This is for your own future," Barman said.

The recipient of the prestigious Whitely Awards, commonly known as 'Green Awards', she has been working on conservation of scavenger birds, the Greater Adjutant Stork, also locally called 'Hargilla', at Pacharia, Dadara and Singimari villages of Kamrup district.

"When I published the first edition of Expressions with the help of my parents and friends, none of us had imagined that we would be releasing the third edition of it. It is really a great feeling, but we still have a long way to go," Baruah said.

The latest edition of the magazine comprises creative works of not only children of the North East, but also from other parts of the country, she added.

"We have creative works ranging from gender equality, terrorism and conflict, environment, sports, reviews on drama and music," Anuragini added.
