Gur dhayya climbs on low stocks, strong demand

Barring a sharp rise of Rs 300 per quintal in gur dhayya prices supported by strong demand, other gur varieties ended flat at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market in the national capital today on scattered support.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets settled flat in the absence of any worthwhile buying or selling.

Marketmen said paucity of stocks and heavy demand contributed to significant rise in gur dhayyar prices.

Gur Dhayya prices shot up by Rs 300 to end at Rs 3,300-3,400 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,800-2,900, pedi Rs 3,000-3,200, dhayya Rs 3,300-3,400 and shakkar Rs 3,100-3,200.
 

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,800-2,850, chakku Rs 2,400-2,500, khurpa Rs N.T. And Ladoo Rs NT.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,800-2,850 and dhayya Rs 2,900.
