Gur prices dip on sluggish demand, increased supply

Gur (Jaggery) prices fell sharply by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following increased supplies amid absence of buying support.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also registered a sharp fall up to Rs 250 per quintal on muted demand amid bumper ready stocks.

Marketmen said mounting stocks on persistent supplies, and fading demand further dampened trading sentiments,

In Delhi, gur Pedi, Dhayya and Chakku prices dropped by Rs 100 each to finish at Rs 3,100-3,200, Rs 3,300-3,400 and Rs 3,100-3,200 per quintal.

At Muradnagar, gur pedi prices fell the most bh Rs 250 to Rs 2,650-2,700 per quintal, while gur Dhayya plunged by Rs 150 to end the day at Rs 2,800-2,850 per quintal.
 

At Muzaffarnagar, gur Chakku and Khurpa prices plunged by Rs 150 each to settle at Rs 2,650-2,800 and Rs 2,550-2,600 per quintal, while Laddoo price slipped by Rs 100 to Rs 2,800-2,850 per quintal.

Gur Raskat prices also drifted lower by Rs 75 to conclude the day at Rs 2,475-2,550 per quintal on selective buying by beer makers.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 3,100-3,200, pedi Rs 3,100-3,200, dhayya Rs 3,300-3,400 and shakkar Rs 3,500-3,600.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,475-2,550, chakku Rs 2,650-2,800, khurpa Rs 2,550-2,600 and Ladoo Rs 2,800-2,850.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,650-2,700 and dhayya Rs 2,800-2,850.
