The Calcutta High Court today asked the CID to probe into the fatal attack on Independent candidate Hriday Ghosh's father in the run-up to the panchayat poll last July in which Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mondal is also an accused.
Mondal, Birbhum district president of the party, had allegedly asked partymen to attack the police with bombs and burn houses of Independent candidates.
A few days later, Sagar Ghosh, father of Hriday Ghosh, an Independent candidate from Parui, was killed in an attack allegedly by Trinamool activists.
