Luxury hotel Hyatt Regency was today slapped with a show cause notice by the Delhi High Court as to why concerned authorities should not be restrained from renewing required licences for its operation in view of alleged flagrant violations committed by it.

The issue of alleged violations cropped up after the incident of an accidental fall of a youth from the hotel's sixth floor last October after which police and civic bodies were asked by the High Court to make a thorough probe.

"Give us the reasons why the prayers in the application be not allowed," Justice Vibhu Bakhru asked Hyatt while hearing the plea on behalf of the youth that the hotel should not be given neccessary clearance to operate till the conclusion of the probe into the accident.

The court also asked Delhi government, Delhi Fire Services, Municipal Corporation of Delhi and Delhi Police to file their responses by September 4 on the plea that they should be prohibited from granting No Objection Certificates, Lodging Liscence, Fire Safety Certificate and other approvals to Hyatt during the pendency of the inquiry.

The court's notice came on a fresh application filed by the sister of the young man, Gaurav Rishi, who is still in coma since the accident on the night of October 16, 2013.
