As the Southwest Monsoon remained inactive over Rajasthan, heatwave conditions aggravated in the state with the mercury crossing the 40 degrees Celsius mark at several places today.
Chittorgarh sizzled at 43 degrees Celsius, which was the state's highest, a MeT official said.
Mercury has risen by one to three degrees since yesterday at many places in the state due to dry weather conditions, the official said.
There was no rainfall except for Bharatpur district where Rupbas recorded 4-cm of rains, followed by Deeg 3-cm and Kumher 2-cm since yesterday afternoon.
Bikaner and Churu recorded a maximum temperature of 42.6 degrees Celsius each, followed by Ganganagar 42.1, Bikaner 41.5, Barmer 41.4, Jaipur 40.9, Pilani 40.4, Ajmer 40, Jodhpur 39.8, and Jaisalmer 39.7 degrees Celsius.
Light to moderate rains expected in Jaipur, Kota, Ajmer, and Bikaner divisions in the next 24 hours if the monsoon revives properly, according to a MeT forecast.
