High sound producing explosives, crackers prohibited

"In view of Kali puja and Dipawali festival... By an order has promulgated CrPC 144 prohibiting sale/purchase and use of high sound producing bombs and similar items generating noise level exceeding 125 decibel, use of fire works or fire crackers from 10-00 pm to 6-00 am ...," an official statement said.

Under this, 'silence zones' have been created at a distance of 100 metres around hospitals, courts, educational institutes, places of religious worship or any other area which is declared as such by authority.

"This order shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further order," it said.

 

Besides, CrPC 144 has also been promulgated prohibiting use of fire works and bursting of crackers within 500 metres radius from the Guwahati Refinery and the oil pipe lines within the Kamrup metropolitan district with immediate effect and until further orders.
