HIV/AIDS prevalence rate reducing in Nagaland

The HIV and AIDS prevalence rate in Nagaland has come down from 1.28 per cent in 2007 to 0.80 per cent this year, Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) said today.

The decrease has been the general prevalence rate of the state while the adult prevalence rate remains static at 0.78 per cent, said Dr Vizokholu Theyo, Deputy Director of the NSACS.

Nagaland has an ambitious target to curb the spread of HIV and AIDS by 2030, she told reporters at a programme.

NSACS Project Director Dr Nangshimeren said people in the age group of 15-35 years comprises 57 per cent of the total HIV prevalence rate in the state.
