Hot day in Rajasthan, mercury touches 40.5 deg C

It was a relatively hot day today in Rajasthan where mercury soared to 40.5 degree Celsius in Churu.
Residents continue to use room coolers and ACs both during day and night as "unexpected" hot weather conditions prevail in the state in contrast to the average temperatures recorded during this part of the year.
North-west region of the state, including Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur, Gananganagar and Pilani today recorded the maximum temperature above 39 degree Celsius.

Jaipur recorded a maximum temperature of 38.9 degree C, about four degree above normal.
The MeT department predicted that similar weather conditions will persist in next 48 hours.
