"There is no expectation. I just want to go out and play my usual game and stick to my strategies. I don't want to put unnecessary pressure on myself by thinking I am the defending champion," said Chiragh, who had finished second at the Indian Open last year, before claiming the BILT Open crown.
For the first time, the BILT Open will be hosted by the Delhi Golf Club, the home course of Chiragh but the 28-year-old golfer said he still can't take things lightly.
"I do have some past good performances in the course. And it adds to your confidence but at the same time, I don't want to take things lightly.
"DGC is one course where one can't afford to lose attention or focus. The course demands a lot of patience," said Chiragh, who predicted the winning score to be around 12 to 15-under.
"Right now, the course is playing great. Greens are in great shape, so are the fairways. Though its little windy and it won't be easy. I am looking forward to the week."
Last year, Chiragh won three tournaments and was the leading money-earner on the PGTI tour. He was eventually named the Rolex player of the year.
Asked how he assessed his performance over the past one year, Chiragh said, "Not very happy with the season. But I am a better player now in terms of learning how to cope up with situations. I have been playing solid for a while now but still waiting to peak." MORE
