The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) today declared results for both class XII, which saw a pass percentage of 96.46, and class X with 98.5 per cent as girls once again outshone boys.
The results have been announced two weeks earlier than previous years as the council for the first time used Live Ink Character Recognition (LICR) technology, which helped in fast compilation of results.
ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) Examination, 2015, showed a marginal increase in pass percentages over the previous year's results, said Gerry Arathoon, CEO of the Council.
While class X registered a slight increase of 0.01 per cent, class XII showed a 0.18 per cent increase as compared to previous year's result.
In the class X examination this year, the top position was bagged by Abineet Parichha from Odisha who scored 99.2 per cent.
The second position has been shared by four students- Sudarshan R (Bangalore), Isha Sethi (Mumbai), Manan Manish Shah (Kandivali) and Jyotsana Srivastava (Lucknow) who scored 99 per cent. The third position has been shared by 10 students with a score of 98.8 per cent.
In class XII, the top position has been bagged by Mumbai's Aadyaa Maddi with 99.75 per cent, Mumbai's Mansi Puggal secured the second position with 99.50 per cent while the third position was shared by Arkadeb Sengupta and Kavita Desai from Kolkata who scored 99.25 per cent.
A total of 1,68,591 students including over 75,000 girls appeared in the ICSE this year.
In class XII, over 38,000 boys and 33,000 girls appeared in the examination this year. The total number of students who had appeared in class XII examination was 72, 069, Arathoon said.
In terms of region wise performance, Southern region
recorded the highest pass percentage in both the classes. The pass percentage in class X stood at 99.68 per cent and in class XII it was 99.14 per cent.
The schools abroad have recorded 100 per cent pass percentage in both the classes.
While the Class X examination was held in 63 written subjects including 22 Indian and 13 foreign languages as well as one classical language, the class XII examination was conducted in 50 written subjects including 15 Indian, 6 foreign and 1 classical language, Arathoon said.
Candidates can see their results by selecting their course code (ICSE or ISC), entering their unique id and the Captcha and then clicking on the "show result" button. A print out of the result can also be taken.
Students can also get their results through SMS. Student should send "ICSE" or "ISC" followed by the seven digit unique ID to 09248082883. Schools can access the results by logging into the career portal and using the principal's log-in and password.
Last year, 1,58,833 appeared for the Class 10 exam and 71,141 students wrote the Class 12 exam. There were 70,624 girls and 88,209 boys who appeared for the Class 10 exam and 32,482 girls and 38,659 boys took the Class 12 papers.

The Northern and Eastern regions recorded the lowest pass percentage in both the examinations.
Explaining the new technology which helped in fast calculation of results, Arathoon said, "LICR captures and digitizes marks entered on the top-sheets of answer scripts, and instantly encrypts and transfers the captured data to the Council's cloud based servers directly from the evaluation centers"
"This significantly reduced the time required for compilation of results as the system automatically totals the marks awarded by the Examiners and also applies the question-paper rubrics, hence eliminating any possibility of manual totalling and manual rubric application errors," he added.
The examination marksheets and pass certificates for class X and XII will reach the schools by May 14 and May 10 respectively, the council announced.
