IFFCO launches health check-up of adolescent girls

Under the project, started in the school at Chatua in Kujanga, a team of doctors and medicos will conduct periodical health checkups of school-going girls at regular intervals.

Besides conducting some essential medical examination of school girls to find out their deficiencies, if any, it will also provide free medicines as well as vitamins and tonics to the students which are essential for maintaining their health.

"We hope the the initiatives would ensure healthy lives for the girls," Gandhi said.

She said it will help address the problem of anaemia, mostly prevalent among young and adolescent schoolgirls of the area. As many as 120 girl students of classes VIII to X were examined two days ago and given health cards.

 

Blood groupings were also conducted while medicines and vitamins worth Rs 1 lakh were distributed free of cost to the girls.

The medical camp was conducted by Dr Puspa Mohanty, DGM (Medical and HS) and her team of doctors assisted by medical staff of iffco hospital.

Earlier, a similar project had been launched in Nabajyoti girls high shool at Biswali, a senior Iffco official said.
