India and Bhutan today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for improving cooperation and exchange of information in the field of audit of public finances.
The MoU was signed by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India Shashi Kant Sharma and Auditor General of Bhutan Dasho Ugen Chewang in Bhutan, an official release said. The MoU will be in force for a period of six years from today, it added.
The MoU, among other things, aims at improving professional knowledge and skills of the staff members of the two countries in the field of audit by exchange of experiences and by strengthening their knowledge.
Both the countries will invite each other's representatives to participate in selected conferences, seminars, internship and other training activities of international characters, the release said.
India will impart training every year to two audit officers of the Royal Audit Authority of Bhutan in the IA&AS course, in the National Academy of Audit & Accounts, Shimla, it added.
