Jharkhand expecting paddy output of 4 lakh tonnes

Jharkhand is expecting 4 lakh tonnes of paddy following a good monsoon.

This was informed in a review meeting of the Agriculture Department chaired by Chief Minister Raghubar Das today, an official release said here.

Stating that there was immense employment possibility in the agriculture sector, Das said his government's priority is to provide irrigation and give employment to every person.

To give the youth employment in 32,000 villages, Das asked officials to form teams and facilitate loans to them through MUDRA Scheme or cooperative banks. This will enable them to purchase tractors and agriculture tools, helping the farmers in ploughing.
 

Doba (small ponds) are being dug in villages to conserve water, Das said and asked the department to renovate big ponds.

He asked the officials to extend help if anybody wants to dig ponds in private areas.

The chief minister said there is immense potential in the horticulture sector as well, and bazaar samitis should form public private partnerships to market their produce.

Das also asked the department to connect villages to boost pisciculture, which would generate employment, adding that women would be trained in weaving nets, which would be purchased by the government.

Agriculture Minister Randhir Kumar Singh, Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma, Development Commissioner Amit Khare, Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Agriculture Department Secretary N M Kulkarni and Animal Husbandry Department Director Puja Singhal were among the officials present at the meeting.
