JK cabinet approves creation of state police service cadre

The Jammu and Kashmir government today sanctioned creation of state police service cadre and enhanced the quota of selection grade constables from 25 per cent to 50 per cent.
The decision to this effect was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
Under the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service Cadre, six posts -- two posts of Inspector General and four posts of Deputy Inspector General -- will be reserved for local officers, government spokesman and Works minister Naeem Akhtar told reporters.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police S P Vaid hailed the government decisions regarding creation of Jammu and Kashmir Police Service cadre and the increase in selection grade Constable quota from 25 per cent to 50 per cent.
Thanking the government for the decisions, Vaid congratulated the officers and jawans and their families.
By these decisions, hundreds of officers and jawans are going to be benefited.
"These decisions would go a long to boost the morale of police force," the DGP wrote on Twitter.
