JK govt purchases 136 ambulances, to be deployed soon

In a bid to improve healthcare services in Jammu and Kashmir, the state government has purchased 136 ambulances which will soon be inducted into service, officials said today.

"A fleet of 136 new ambulances have been purchased by the health department, the deployment of which will be done shortly," a spokesman of the department said.

The ambulances have been purchased for 10 districts of Jammu region.

There are 567 ambulances already operational in Jammu division with 200 ambulances fitted with GPS system.

"Besides, 18 critical care ambulances are also available for the benefit of critically ill and accident patients," the spokesman said.
 

A call centre for requisition of ambulances has also been set up at directorate of health services in Jammu.

The patients can use the call centre to request for ambulances just by dialling 102.
