Karthik hits 142 in India Cements win in Moin-ud-Dowla Cup

India discard Dinesh Karthik started his pre-season with a bang as he hit 142 in the second innings with India Cements beating ONGC by 146 runs in the Moin ud Dowla Gold Cup tournament, here today.

Moin-Ud-Dowla Gold Cup, a traditional pre-season tournament, is being played on three day format with both teams needing to play two innings.

Karthik's 142 came off 117 balls in the second innings with 12 fours and five sixes as India Cements scored 265 for three in their second innings. They had scored 353 in their first innings to which ONGC scored 272 in their first essay.
 

Chasing an improbable 346 in 40 overs, ONGC managed 200 for six with Delhi's Ranji player Milind Kumar 37.

Group A:

Hyderabad Cricket Association XI 465 for seven in 90 overs and 251 for five in 40 overs (P Akshath Reddy 113) beat Air India 338 in 89.3 overs (Himanshu Asnora 82, Vishal Sharma five for 73) and 251 for four in 40 overs (Rahul Yadav 86 not out) by 127 runs at Gymkhana ground. HCA XI 5 points, Air India 0.

FCI XI 283 in 73.5 overs and 100 in 25.4 overs (Umang Sharma 28, Sunil Sam three for 40, Washington Sundar three for 13) lost to MRF XI 296 in 71.2 overs and 88 for no wkt in 12.5 overs (Unmukt Chand 49 not out) by 10 wkts at DMRC-1 ground. MRF 5 points, Air India 0.

Group B:

India Cements 353 in 85.1 overs and 265 for three in 40 overs (Dinesh Karthik 142, Baba Aparajith 43) beat ONGC 272 in 81.3 overs and 200 for six in 40 overs (Milind Kumar 37) by 146 runs at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

India Cements 5 points, ONGC 0.

HCA President's XI 290 in 81.1 overs and 284 for four in 40 overs (B Anirudh 101) drew with Sri Lankan Development XI 429 for eight in 90 overs (Lahiru Milantha 79 not out, Ahmed Quadri four for 65) and 138 for six in 32.5 overs (Kusal Mendis 52, Minod Bhanuka 34) at Vijayanand Gardens. Sri Lankan Development XI 3 points, HCA President's XI 0.
