Keep an eye on casinos to unearth black money: Goa BJP leader

A senior Goa BJP leader today urged the Centre to keep a tab on the casinos in the state to unearth black money rather than "randomly" raiding places across the country.

"It is the Central government which is investigating black money. Why do they randomly raid places here and there?" Wilfred Mesquita, BJP leader and Goa NRI commissioner asked.

"Will any honest citizen in this country splurge money like this in a casino? No person likes to splurge money unless you get it by ill-means," he claimed.

"If the Union Government wants to detect black money, here is the place where they can get it. This is a place where black money is spent," Mesquita alleged.

The BJP leader said that the state government should not be blamed for not being able to control the use of black money in casinos.

Asserting that Centre does not need to form any authority to check the customers entering casinos, he said, "Video record every person entering the casino and take their addresses and send them notices."

Goa has five offshore casino vessels and several onshore gaming places in five star hotels.
