Kerala government today decided to contribute Rs two crore as corpus fund towards the 'Nepal Relief Fund' set up by the state to help people affected by the devastating earthquake.
The ministers would contribute Rs.10,000 each towards the fund and government has appealed to the people in the state to donate liberally to the fund, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters after a cabinet meeting here.
A majority of Keralites stranded in Nepal have returned to the country and remaining also would be brought back soon. With Air India operating more flights, "all Keralities will be rescued soon," he said.
"Efforts are on bring the bodies of two young doctors from the state who died in the quake as early as possible," he said.
Dr Deepak Thomas from Kannur and Dr A S Irshad from Kasaragod lost their lives while their colleague Dr Abin Suri escaped with serious injuries.
Suri, who was brought early this morning, was admitted to the AIIMS, trauma care unit, New Delhi, he said.
