US Secretary of State John Kerry would visit Beijing and Seoul later this month, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's maiden trip to China and South Korea, the US government said today.

Kerry will travel to Beijing, from May 16 to 17, State Department acting spokesperson, Marie Harf, said.

Modi is travelling to China from May 14 to 16. After a day-long trip to Mongolia, Modi will travel to South Korea on May 18 and 19.

While in Beijing, Kerry will meet senior leaders of the Chinese government to advance US priorities ahead of the Strategic and Economic Dialogue this summer and the planned US visit of President Xi Jinping later this year, Harf said.

Kerry will then visit Seoul from May 17 to 18.

He will meet President Park Geun-hye and Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se to discuss a range of global, regional, and bilateral issues, as well as Park's upcoming visit to the US, Harf said.
