Labourer from Bihar arrested for rape, murder of minor

Addressing media, Gurdaspur SSP Raj Jeet Singh said the accused Radhey Sham, a native of Bihar, was nabbed from the state and has confessed to the crime.
The SSP claimed that police nabbed the accused after questioning 80 persons in this regard.
The 13-year-old girl was found murdered in a sugarcane field at Hassanpur village of the district on December 5.
Medical examination had confirmed that the victim was raped.
The SSP claimed that when accused saw the girl going to a sugarcane field to answer the call of nature, he also went into the field and raped her.

"Later he strangled her with a cloth and fled away," he added.
He also claimed that the girl's mother had seen Radhey Sham coming out of the field when she was searching for her daughter.
The victim's family and social activists had protested near Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner's office yesterday against the police's alleged inability to nab the culprits.
