Land Scam: 2 employees suspended, FIR against two others

The Khurda district administration district today filed an FIR against two persons on charge of constructing road near Chandka sanctuary here while the Odisha government suspended two employees of revenue department in connection with the alleged land scam at Ghangapatna village at outskirt of the state capital.

"Revenue Inspector, Paikarapur Basant Kumar Swain and clerk of Khurdha sub collector's office Niranjan Das have been placed under suspension," said Khurdha district collector Niranjan Sahu here.

According to the district collector, the Bhubaneswar tehsildar has lodged an FIR against two persons identified as Mahendra Dehuri and Susant Behera, at the Chandaka police station in connection with the road construction.
 

The collector said the due were found violating Forest Conservation Act by constructing the road over a land categories as "chota junge."

"We are verifying the official records to ascertain the involvement of others in the incident and appropriate action would be taken against them if they are found guilty," the collector said.

The Bhubaneswar telsildar has also requested the police to investigate the involvement of others in the illegal construction of road in this area, the district collector said.
