Two leaders of a far-right, anti-Muslim group in Britain say they have quit because of growing extremism in the organisation's ranks.
Tommy Robinson and Kevin Carroll are leaving the English Defence League, the group they founded in 2009.
The Quilliam Foundation, an anti-extremism think tank founded by former Muslim jihadists, made the announcement today, saying it had helped the pair's departure.
The League claims to be a peaceful opponent of radical Islam. Its opponents, however, accuse the party of racism and its protests which are usually met by large counter demonstrations, have often turned violent.
Robinson said in a statement "I acknowledge the dangers of far-right extremism." He added that although "street demonstrations have brought us to this point, they are no longer productive.
