The licences of two fair price
shops under the Maharashtra public distribution system were suspended on Monday for alleged misappropriation of food grains amid the lockdown in place for the coronavirus outbreak, Thane district officials said.
Both the shops are in Bhiwandi taluka, said District Supply Officer Raju Thote.
"We raided the two shops and found they were disbursing less than the amounts stipulated, which is 25 kilograms of rice and 10 kilograms of wheat. Their licences have been suspended and we have filed a case with Ganeshpuri police station," he added.
