M A Ganpati will take over from B S Sidhu as the new DGP of Uttarakhand from May 1.
The Centre gave its nod to the appointment of Ganpati as the state police chieflate last night, official sources said here today.
A 1986 batch IPS officer, Ganpati has recently returned from deputation in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
The present Uttarakhand DGP B S Sidhu is retiring on April 30.
