The Food Security Act covering seven crore beneficiaries will be implemented in Maharashtra from February 1, it was announced here today.
Maharashtra Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anil Deshmukh said those covered under the Antyodaya scheme would receive 35 kg of foodgrains per family, while others would get 5 kg of foodgrains per person.
The foodgrains would be priced the same for beneficiaries under both categories.

Wheat would be available for Rs 2 per kg, rice would be available at Rs 3 per kg, while cereals would be available at Re 1 per kg.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is scheduled to launch the scheme at Patni grounds, at Airoli in Navi Mumbai on February 1.
District guardian ministers will symbolically launch the scheme in their respective districts by distributing foodgrains to ten beneficiaries between February 1 and February 8.
