Maize remains weak on reduced offtake

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Maize prices dropped further by Rs 30 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today owing to reduced offtake by consuming industries against sufficient stocks.

However, rice basmati edged up on scattered demand.

Marketmen said reduced offtake by consuming industries against adequate stocks position mainly kept maize prices lower.

They said some demand from retailers against restricted supplies from producing regions helped rice basmati to trade higher.

In the national capital, maize fell further by Rs 30 to Rs 1,650-1,655 per quintal.
