A 39-year old man died after he lost balance and fell off a 3,200 feet cliff while undertaking a ritual walk around a hill temple at Thalaimalai in the district, police said today.
The incident occurred at Lord Sanjivaraja Perumal temple, which is located atop the hill, yesterday. Going around it was very risky as the pathway is just about one feet wide and slippery.
The deceased has been identified as Arumugam, an auto- rickshaw driver.
An eye witness had yesterday captured the video of the incident and circulated it on social media.
The police and local forest department officials today retrieved the body, they said.
