A man today allegedly looted Rs 40 lakh from a bank here, police said.
As per the CCTV footage, the man walked into the Syndicate Bank branch located opposite a cinema hall this afternoon and made a cool survey inside before entering into the operational area where the staff sit and do the transaction, they said.
He went near the cash section where money was being disbursed and after a while walked away with Rs 40 lakh kept in a box, police said, adding it took some time for the bank staff to realise about the whole incident only after they found the cash box missing.

Inspector In-Charge of Plant Site police station, S K Biswal, who visited the spot, said investigation is on and it is difficult at to guess at this stage whether any other person was involved in the incident.
He said the CCTV footage showed the loot was done in a very cunning manner. On basis of the CCTV footage, police have launched a massive hunt to nab the accused.
"When assistant branch manager shouted I realised that something has happened and rushed out of the room to learn what had happened," said A K Naik, Branch Manager of the bank, who took charge today.
He said there were no security guard at the bank when the incident occurred.
