Man sets girl on fire after failed molestation bid

An 11-year-old girl was allegedly set ablaze by a man here after she resisted his attempt to molest her, police said today.

The girl was hospitalised with serious burn injuries.

The incident occurred late last night when the girl was going to a common toilet in Tinkarinath Bose Lane under Golabari police station.

The accused, a neighbour, first attempted to molest the girl and when she resisted, poured kerosene on her and set her on fire, police said.

Two persons were detained by the police for questioning but the accused is absconding, they said.
