A woman and her infant daughter were strangulated to death allegedly by her husband in Adarsh Nagar area of north Delhi, police said today.
The accused, identified as Ajit Kumar later surrendered before the police, they said.
"Kumar strangulated his wife and threw her body from the second floor of his rented house on Saturday night. His daughter Wanshika was weeping continuously and so he also strangled her to death, he (Kumar) said during the interrogation," a police official said.
"The couple had got married in 2010 and had a strained relationship," the official said, adding few years ago, a district court had to interfere to settle their issue.
A case has been registered in this connection, police said.
Meanwhile, the woman's family has alleged that Kumar, working at a restaurant in Ghaziabad, used to torture his wife for dowry and that Kumar was not happy after the birth of his daughter as he wanted a male child, police said.
