Indian cueists sizzle in World Six-Red and Team Snooker C'ship

Indian cueists continued their good run in the World Six-Red and Team Snooker Championship with Sourav Kothari and Dharminder Lilly winning their respective matches in the singles event, here today.

Asian billiards champion, Kothari humbled Igor Aksiutin of Russia 4-0 while Lilly edged out another Russian Ivan Kakovsky 4-3.

Shivam Arora and S Saleem also registered convincing wins on a fruitful day for the Indians, while Rafath Habib and Laxman Rawat lost their respective matches.

In the World Team 15-Red Snooker, Kothari combined with Arora to beat the Egyptian pair of Aly Abouhedia and Mohamed Ibrahim, the Chawla-Lilly pair outplayed Khaled Alastat and Haytam Salim of Palestine 4-1 and Faisal Khan & Lilly also defeated Munsir Cassim and Igshaan Alladin 4-1.
 

India's ace cueist Pankaj Advani also had a good run and turned his partnership with Brijesh Damani into a winning combination after losing their first match yesterday as they outwitted Maree Milad and Adem Gerwash 4-1.

In the womens 6-Red Snooker singles, Umadevi, Neeta Sanghvi, Indira Gowda, Neena Praveen, Chitra Magimairaj and Vidya Pillai notched up convincing win with Bangalore cueist Chitra almost securing a next-stage berth.

Chitra tops the 'break' list for Indians with good breaks of 62 and 52 breaks, while Daria Irotina of Russia remains tops the overall chart with a 71 so far.
