A 25-year-old man succumbed after he allegedly consumed spurious arrack near here today leading to tension in the area.
Police said the man had taken the spurious liquor at Kovilpathu.
The local people alleged that police had not taken any action against sale of spurious liquor in the area despite a series of complaints.
They staged a road roko in front of the police station here condemning "corruption and sale of spurious liquor" in the area.
Traffic was affected for more than three hours and police had tough time persuading the people to disperse.
