March for Science Rally taken out in city

Scientists and academicians of today took part in the 'March for Science' rally here to promote among people.

The rally, which was taken out from Ramlila Maidan to Esplanade, also demanded allocation of at least 3 per cent of GDP to scientific and technological research and 10 per cent towards among other issues, a statement of the organisers said.

The and an NGO, Breakthrough Society, were behind the city-leg of the rally.

The second edition of the 'March for Science' rally was taken out in several other cities in the country during the day.

Prof of IISER (Indian Institute of and Research), Kolkata, Prof Naba Kumar Mandal were among those having taken part in the rally.

"The March for champions robustly funded and publicly communicated science as a pillar of human freedom and prosperity," a statement from the organisers said.
