Medium sugar weakens on stockists selling, low demand

Medium sugar weakened further at the Vashi wholesale market here today on stockists selling, amid lower retail demand.

Small sugar held steady due to lack of any worthwhile buying activity.

Medium sugar (M-30) fell by Rs 10 per quintal to Rs 2,762/2,932 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 2,762/2,942.

Small sugar (S-30) closed unchanged at Rs 2,650/2,752.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,650/2,752 (Rs 2,650/2,752).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,762/2,932 (Rs 2,762/2,942).
