Mentha oil prices rose further by 2.02 per cent to Rs 1,285.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators raised bets, tracking a firm trend at the spot market on strong demand.
Besides, tight stocks position on fall in supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh too fuelled the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in far-month May jumped up by Rs 25.50, or 2.02 per cent, to Rs 1,285.50 per kg in a business turnover of 110 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in April was trading higher Rs 20.10, or 1.47 per cent, to Rs 1,391.30 per kg in 515 lots.
Marketmen said expansion of positions by traders on the back of strong demand from consuming industries in the physical market against restricted supplies from Chandausi kept mentha oil prices higher in futures trade.
