A 20-year-old migrant worker died after he touched a high tension wire near his house at Valapattinam in the district today, police said.

Barkath Ali, a native of Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh, was trying to remove a coil from a capacitor along with two persons, including his brother, at his residence in the second floor of a building around 11.30 am.

He accidentally touched a 11 KVA high tension wire near the window and was electrocuted while the others suffered injuries.

Dismissing reports of any bomb blast at the spot, police said, "It is normal that a blast occurs when a foreign body comes into contact with a high voltage line."

The injured have been admitted to a hospital.

A case of unnatural death has been registered.
