The Samajwadi Pension Scheme, an ambitious programme of Akhilesh Yadav government which aims to cover 40 lakh poor families in Uttar Pradesh, was launched in the district today with distribution of certificates to 25 beneficiaries.
State Transport Minister and Incharge of Mathura Durga Prasad Yadav inaugurated the scheme and distributed the certificates to the 25 families at function here.
"Of the 40 lakh families, 30 per cent would be from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe, 25 per cent families from minorities and rest 45 per cent from general category," Yadav said while inaugurating the scheme here.
Beneficiaries would get Rs 500 per month in the first year, he said, adding that on fulfilling the health and education norms, they would get an additional incentive of Rs 50 after one year.
However, the maximum incentive would be Rs 750 per month.
UP Chief Minister had launched the ambitious scheme, which has an annual budget of Rs 2,424 crore, last month.
Yadav also inaugurated about a dozen buildings of government schools in Mathura and discussed the framework of proposed development plan of the district with public representatives.
