Modi followers on Twitter reach a million mark
Becomes one of the most followed politician in the country

Gujarat Chief minister Narendra Modi's followers on micro-blogging site Twitter crossed a million mark on eve of Dusshera, making him one of the most followed politician in the country. Delighted, Modi thanked all his followers on Twitter.
His fiery twits on national issues, policies, Central government and Congress has increased his popularity among ardent Twitter users. Modi's followers stood at 1,001,132 on Wednesday afternoon.
"A million followers! These are not mere numbers but it signifies your love & affection. Heartfelt thanks to you all," said Modi on Twitter, acknowledging his followers.
Modi started tweeting in the 2009, when only a few politicians were active on the social media. His twitter followers have increased tremendously with only a few thousand in 2009 to over 200,000 in 2010. In November 2011, the number of followers crossed the 400,000 mark. However, in the last one year, the number of followers has climbed by over 600,000.
The Gujarat chief minister's social media presence is not limited to Twitter, he is active on Facebook and he regularly shares his thoughts on various issues on his official blog. He also has his own YouTube channel that contains videos of his speeches and media bytes.
