Press Trust of India Jaipur
Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria today said there was a need to prepare a new mechanism to curb crime, arrest criminals and increase surveillance at inter-state borders.

Patrolling should be increased on the borders and the police must make efforts to arrest criminals who take shelter in other states. These will contribute in strengthening security, he said here.

Kataria was speaking at a meeting of the western region police coordination committee which was attended by officials from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa, and those from the BSF, CRPF, IB and CBI.

Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP) Ajit Singh said Abhay Command Centres are being set up at all divisional headquarters in the state for surveillance.

Singh's Maharashtra counterpart Satish Mathur said the department was not being able to buy technical equipment as per requirement as the purchases were through the tender process, which was not in tandem with the times.

DGP Goa Muktesh Chandra said those committing cyber crime did not fear the police as the force was behind in technology as compared to criminals.
