Nine killed and 32 others injured in accidents

Nine persons were killed and 32 others injured today in separate road accidents in Bihar's Katihar and Bhojpur and Nawada districts, police sources said.

Five occupants of a Bolero Jeep were killed after the vehicle collided with a truck Koshi river bridge on NH-31 under Kursaila police station area in Katihar district, sources said.

Those who were killed on the spot were identified as Ranjan Kumar Mishra (driver), Sunil Yadav and Chakrawarti Paswan. Two others, identified as Kailash Mandal and Manoj Kumar Manuj, succumbed to injuries during treatment at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College and Hospital in Bhagalpur, sources said.
 

The victims were returning to Khagaria from Purnia after attending a marriage when the mishap occurred,the sources added.

In a related incident, three persons died on the spot and 12 others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a Vehicle near Dulaur village under Jagdishpur police station area in Bhojpur district, they said.

All the three victims were members of a band party, the sources said, adding that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the injured persons taken to a hospital for treatment.

However, the truck driver escaped with the vehicle after the incident, they said.

In yet another road accident, a member of a marriage party was killed and 20 others injured after a bus in which they were travelling lost control and overturned on Rajauli-Gaya road under Sirdala police station area in Nawada district, the sources said, adding the body was sent for post-mortem and the injured persons admitted to a hospital for treatment.
