Nobody remained CM of Maharashtra for long time: Fadnavis

Press Trust of India  |  Mumbai

Devendra today caused a flutter when he said that it is a fact in state politics that nobody remained CM for a long time.

"No person can remain as for a longer period...This is the history of politics in Maharashtra," said on the sidelines of an event in a lighter vein.

He was speaking at a function to inaugurate a private hospital in a suburb.

"I performed the ground-breaking ceremony of this hospital and today I inaugurated it. This is a rare occasion. I don't known whether the construction of the hospital took place at a greater speed or I remained as a for long," said.

The CM's remarks came at a time when the BJP is walking the tightrope to bear with the Shiv Sena, the recalcitrant constituent of the BJP-led NDA government, which is playing the politics of oneupmanship in the upcoming bypolls.

The Sena has fielded late Chintaman Wanga's son against the BJP nominee for the Palghar Lok Sabha bypoll, scheduled later this month.

The Sena has also backed the candidature of Vishwajeet Kadam, the son of late MLA Patangrao Kadam, in the upcoming Palus-Kadegaon assembly bypoll in district.

The BJP has announced withdrawal of its nominee from the race, which virtually gives a walkover to Vishwajeet.
