Over 47.94 lakh tonnes paddy arrives in Haryana

During the current kharif season, more than 47.94 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in the grain markets of Haryana till November 5 as against 33.94 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year.

Of the total arrival, more than 42.45 lakh tonnes of paddy was leviable and 5.48 lakh tonnes paddy was non-leviable, a spokesman of the State's Food and Supplies Department said here today.

While government procurement agencies have purchased more than 40.25 lakh tonnes paddy, millers and dealers have purchased 7.69 lakh tonnes.

He said that Karnal was leading in paddy arrivals at 10.03 lakh tonnes.

The spokesman said that farmers have been advised to clean and dry their harvest properly before bringing them to the market so that they do not have to face any problems in storage due to high moisture content.
