Polands prime minister and German Chancellor Angela Merkel acknowledged today that their views differ in general on migration policy and a gas pipeline project, but identified some areas of agreement.
Polands government head, Mateusz Morawiecki, was hosted by Merkel in Berlin for talks on the future of the European Union, energy projects and on intensifying bilateral ties.
Merkel later told a news conference that Germany and Poland "have some elements in common, although we have different points of view, especially on the subject of refugees." She named strengthening of the EUs outside borders and help to refugees in centers close to their home countries as tasks that both countries see as important.

The two countries differ on a mandatory EU relocation plan for the relocation of migrants, which Poland is refusing to implement, citing security concerns.
Morawiecki later gave a speech at the Koerber Foundation think tank on future directions for Europe.
He was also to lay flowers at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe.
