MP schoolchildren escape unhurt after their van catches fire

Eleven school children escaped unhurt here today after their van caught fire, police said.
The incident happened in the afternoon on Shivpuri Link road here under Lashkar police station limits, the official said, adding that the children, studying at the St. Joseph Convent School, were returning home.
He informed that an electrical fault possibly caused the problem in the van which was fitted with a gas kit.

The driver immediately stopped the van and the children evacuated it safely after which it caught fire, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Gwalior, Dinesh Shrivastava, told PTI.
He added that the driver, Lakhan Singh Dhakad, fled from the spot and local residents doused the flames. No child was injured in the incident, the official informed.
He said that a case was registered and further investigations were underway, the official added.
