Manipur police arrested five persons from different places in the state and seized arms and ammunition from their possession, a police officer said today.
Police arrested a person, identified as K Ginzalian (70) of Vengnuam, New Lamka in Churachandpur district on Friday and seized a 9 mm pistol along with five live rounds from his possession, the police PRO said.
On a tip-off, police arrested Zamkhanpau (48) of Suangdoh village in Churachandpur district on Friday for receiving an arms consignment from Myanmar.

Zamkhanpau disclosed to police during interrogation that he received the arms consignment from Ginlianthang (47) and Nengkhanlun (34) of his locality.
Both Ginlianthang (47) and Nengkhanlum (34) were arrested by police. During search at their residence police recovered two magazines of a 9 mm pistol and a huge amount of cash.
Two other persons involved in an illegal arms smuggling were also arrested by police after Ginlianthang and Nengkhanlum told the cops about them, the officer added.
