Nearly 9 tonnes of red sanders were today seized from a local godown, whose owner has been taken into custody, police said.
Vijayawada and Chittoor Police jointly raided the godown in Autongar area here and recovered 9 tonnes of the precious wood whose trade is banned, they said.
The godown owner Ravi Kumar has been taken into custody, they said.
The raid was conducted on the basis of information provided by a sandalwood smuggler, who is in custody of the Chittoor Police.
