Prisoner dies on way to hospital in Raj

A prisoner lodged in Sikar jail died when he was being shifted to a hospital for a health check-up, police said today.

Mahendra Kumar, a suspected vehicle lifter, was arrested by police and was sent to a judicial custody for 14 days by a local court on Monday.

Kumar was being taken for a check up last evening after he complained of uneasiness, but he died on his way to hospital, police said.

"Initially, his family members refused to accept the body, police said, adding, the matter is being investigated.
