Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today directed that a comprehensive probe be conducted into the alleged forgery of manual challans in the commercial taxes department.
Rao, who held a review on the department's affairs with officials, said stringent action should be taken against those involved to prevent recurrence of such irregularities, a release from the Chief Minister's Office said.
He asked the officials to prepare a plan to strengthen the Commercial Taxes department, it added.
The issue of forgery of manual challans in the commercial taxes department refers to some employees allegedly indulging in irregularities in issuing challans.
The irregularities are under investigation.
